Momentum: The Key to Your Advancement

Well, let me start off by saying welcome to the fourth quarter! For me, the third quarter was remarkable and yielded amazing results. In fact, I have surpassed so many of the goals that I set for myself in 2022. While the easy thing would be to just spend the rest of the year on cruise control, I am challenging myself to go further and to set even bigger goals. If you have followed my work for any length of time, then you know that the fourth quarter is very important. It is game time and it is time to execute at a high level. In essence, you have three months to get things done and to accomplish the goals that you have set for yourself in 2022. If you are not happy with your results, then you need to change your strategy and hone your focus. I want to share a few insights with you about the importance of momentum in moving your life forward.

  1. You cannot have momentum without clear goals. One of the things that I learned early on is that you cannot advance with ambiguous goals. In other words, you have to first take the time to get some clarity in your life. Clarity is important because it helps you determine the direction you are going and to develop the disciplines that will get you there. Most of all, clarity is important because it is the only way that you will ever be empowered to break cycles in your life. I talk to so many people that are frustrated with the current state of their lives. However, when I ask them about their goals and their vision they cannot articulate where they are going or what they are trying to accomplish. You may feel like you should just give up and start over in 2023. On the other hand, I want you to understand that 2023 will look exactly like 2022 if you do not take the time to set clear goals and objectives for your life. Clarity empowers you to break cycles and to birth change in your life. Set aside some time and write down your goals, and define your objectives so that you have a plan in place for your progress and prosperity.

  2. You will never have momentum in your life if you constantly make excuses. I am sure that you have heard me say that excuses are the currency of failure. Furthermore, excuses are the monuments that we build to mediocrity in our lives. If you really want to frustrate me, then start making excuses for where you are and why you are not further in your life. At the end of the day, we all have the same twenty-four hours. What you do with your time shows your commitment to your goals and your dedication to the realization of your full potential. Every single day of our lives we are presented with choices and tradeoffs. Something you are focused on today will shape the future and possibilities of your life forever. You can have excuses or you can have executed goals. However, you cannot have both. You have to decide what you want most and stop settling for what you want right now. Refuse to allow gratification to become a barrier to your growth. Eliminate the excuses in your life and dare to execute on your goals every single day. Excuses will paralyze your potential. Conversely, execution will empower you to realize your greatest potential.

  3. You cannot have momentum with a bankrupt paradigm. As a highly respected thought leader, many of you have heard me speak and write at length about the power of the mind. In fact, I believe that it is impossible to have momentum in your life without the engagement of your mind. Why do I say that? Your life always moves in the direction of your dominant thoughts. Whatever governs your thinking governs the moments of your life. If you want to make progress, then you have to be willing to work on your paradigm. In other words, you must be willing to address self-imposed limitations and self-limiting beliefs. You must have the audacity to confront toxic thoughts and toxic emotions that stand in the way of your transformation and advancement. If your thoughts have brought you to where you are currently in your life, then you can change your thinking and change the trajectory of your life. An unhealed mind will always produce an unproductive life. The neglected mind will engineer cycles of failure in your life. The attention you give your mind will determine the advancement of your life. .

  4. You can only sustain momentum through consistency. Inconsistency is a seed for future cycles of frustration and failure in your life. More importantly, you cannot improve your life by being inconsistent. I believe that inconsistency is one of the greatest ways that you dishonor your potential. Many people desire success and prosperity in their lives. However, they betray their futures every single day through inconsistency. I want you to understand that inconsistency will never produce a harvest in your life. Inconsistency is a downpayment on a future ruled by disappointments and regrets. If you want to shift the cycles of your life, then it begins with consistency. From decades of work, I have learned that consistency is a muscle that has to be developed. The more you develop the muscle of consistency the more you build your capacity. The greater your capacity the greater the degree of success you are able to obtain and sustain in your life. Consistency builds champions and birth cycles of change. Consistency is a commitment to your maturity, growth, and development. Consistency is the currency of conquerors. Everything that you conquer in life will be the result of consistency. Every defeat in your life will be the product of inconsistency.
