Seizing the Moment: Understanding the Gift of Time

As someone that has the pleasure of speaking with people from all over the world, I am often asked about purpose, destiny and the value of time. I have been intrigued over the years as I have spoken with people about time and I have heard so many make excuses for why they are not able to make the most of moments. However, as someone that knows a great deal about success, I know that one of the major keys to success is having the ability to discern key moments of opportunity in your life. This is a learned skill and one that everyone must develop if they want to be successful. I want to speak with you about seizing moments in your life. I hope this insights will empower you to make adjustments, align with your vision and awaken to the possibilities of what your life can become. Partner with time for the fulfillment of your purpose!

  1. You must eliminate the excuses. As I stated before, I have heard so many people tell me what they do not have time for in their lives. Yet these are the same people that will scroll social media for five hours. Or they will binge watch their favorite shows on Netflix. The reality is that time is not the problem. The real problem is that they have wrong priorities. Your life is always a reflection of what you respect. You will never attract into your life that which has not captured your attention. Excuses are the monuments that we build to mediocrity in our lives. At some point, you have to stop making excuses and start making adjustment so you can live the life of your dreams. Our excuses make us comfortable in our complacency and at peace in our procrastination. Unfortunately, excuses are the catalyst for the expiration of our dreams. You must eliminate the excuses in your life and take strategic action on your goals so you can manifest your greatest desires.

  2. You have to stop being casual about your goals. One of the things that fascinates me with so many people is the fact that they say they want success so bad but they are so inconsistent. As you have heard me say before, inconsistency will always produce an inferior life. If you continue to be casual about your goals you will never see change manifest in your life. In other words, your attitude about success is defining what you achieve. Too many people approach their goals with a lack of passion and consistency. In fact, they approach their goals like they have all the time in the world. The reality is that every single day of your life time is moving. Time waits on no man. You do not have all the time in the world. So you have to stop being casual about your goals and start being committed to your goals. Commitment is not only the engine that drives change in your life. Commitment is what ultimately unlocks your capacity for greatness. The dreams of so many are on life support. Your dreams are only awakened when you dare to take action. Do not allow your attitude to abort success in your life.

  3. Understand the power of seizing moments in your life. If you have followed my work over the years, then you know that one of the keys to my success has been my ability to discern key moments of opportunity. Notice that I did not say that I was relying on other people to discern moments of opportunity in my life. In fact, some people told me I was crazy and too ambitious to pursue some of the things that I have pursued. Now those same people celebrate me as a respected thought leader with influence around the world. My ability to discern opportunities in unlikely places is what has produced success and prosperity in my life. So many people are sitting back and waiting for something to happen. What you have to understand is that you are the catalyst for all change in your life. Stop waiting for someone to give you an opportunity and create an opportunity for yourself. Honestly, if you keep waiting for others to do what you have the power to do you will develop a condition called hope deferred which ultimately results in a sick heart. If you want doors to open in your life then discern where there is a door of opportunity that you can walk through. Discernment gives you the ability to find worth in places that others consider wastelands. Your ability to perceive what is blind to the naked eye is what will empower you to seize moments of opportunity in your life.

  4. In order to seize moments you must understand the power of now. As someone that has trained and developed leaders around the world, I often have conversations with leaders about navigating seasons of change. Consequently, I have discovered that many leaders talk about change but lack the courage to embrace change in their lives. Too many times leaders say I will take action tomorrow. Or they will say I still have time. Furthermore, they believe the lie that the opportunity will come around again. All of these are excuses for why they refuse to take the necessary actions to change their lives. I've been doing this work for years and seasons do not come back around. Also, some opportunities are once in a lifetime. So you have stop believing the lie that time is on your side. In order to seize moments of opportunity in your life, you must understand that now is the only moment that matters in changing your life. If you keep putting change in the future, it allows you the comfort of not taking responsibility for your life. Now is the only moment you have and the only moment that matters in your life. Time is a gift that must be invested wisely and never squandered. Regret is the byproduct of wasting the gift of time. You cannot get moments back. Your ability to maximize moments is what empowers you to fulfill purpose and realize your greatest potential. There is no greater tragedy than to live a life void of fulfillment because you never discerned the valued of time.
